South Moon Under to Open on East Broad Street

South Moon Under has chosen to open the 21st location of its East Coast-based clothing chain in Downtown Westfield.

Offering selections for men and women, the shop will occupy the space that formerly housed the Coach store at 249 E. Broad St. and is expected to open soon, according to the Downtown Westfield Corporation. The shop also features gifts for the home as well as jewelry, shoes and swimwear.

The company got its start in a small surf shack in the summer of 1968 and has expanded into a "sophisticated, upscale clothing retailer," its website states.

Ahead of its opening, the company is seeking assistant managers. The following is the job description: 

At South Moon Under, members of the management team serve as leaders in their store, coaching and developing the staff to provide an outstanding level of customer service that will, in turn, maximize sales and profits. All of our Assistant Managers must have a complete understanding of the South Moon Under philosophy, aesthetic, and customer. The South Moon Under Assistants possesses strong leadership skills. They work closely with the sales staff to deliver product knowledge, drive sales and uphold operational standards. They have excellent communication skills and a full understanding of how to motivate people. Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs that include daytime, evening, weekends and holidays shifts, as well as having at least one year of retail management experience, preferably in a specialty retail environment.
