And it's not just high income taxpayers being shaken down. I'm not a high income earner by any stretch , and I feel shaken down when the school board, for example, suddenly says they need $12 million dollars on top of regular taxes for roof and boiler upgrades, or when burly police officers, demanding jobs-for-life, pack the township committee meeting. Why don't they just shake us down on the streets of Cranford in broad daylight?
