Reply-- NJ Residents For Action is not a front for moveon.org. We are a separate group.
And we are a separate group from OFA. We share similar views but we are separate groups .
We just had a Forum at Temple Emanu-El on May 1 with Governor Florio and eight other speakers , including Reverand Dr Ray Roberts of the Presbyterian Church of Westfield ,, Rabbi Sagal , law enforcement and others . . The room was filled to capacity and very energized . .
We have many supporters and are getting more daily.
We got many letters to legislators signed . People were standing on their feet .
We started as residents and proudly built this grouo ourselves .

Replywow-- Aman77 -- you really have it in for me! I cracked up when I read that ... .. What's going on in that head of yours is what I'd like to know ? .
I actually was going to comment , but nothing of the sort that you so hysterically stated.
My only comment is this .
Why do they allow websites that teach people how to build bombs? They don';t allow child pornography -that's against the law. So in the interest of public safety and the security of our country , I would like the government to take action and prohibit these websites from being displayed on the internet.
We may not be able to prevent all domestic terrorists from learning these tricks of the trade, but we certainly shouldn't be allowing "educational websites" so they can learn how to build bombs to kill and maim innocent children and adults .
That is my take away from all of this . -

Reply- the "guy" in Newtown had the guns in his room ...in a safe in his room....
The mother was ready to purchase him a gun for Christmas . I think anyone who wants to own a gun , should have to go through a safety program . This will teach them proper responsibility and respect for the firearm. NJ has a bill passed in the NJ Assembly requiring that. Now it is up to Senator Sweeney to bring it to the NJ Senate. I will call tomorrow and tell him this is paramount . I hope everyone else will too -

I agree Marcus. By the way , there is legislation that was passed by the NJ state Assembly, waiting for it to come into the NJ Senate , that would require anyone wanting to buy a gun to complete a training and safety program -- like a Driver;s License.
Almost every Republican ( i think every one) voted AGAINST that including Jon Bramnick . Why? Why would anyone be opposed to gun safety?
This is a perfect time to call State Senator Sweeney who will be deciding which bills get through to the floor and which ones don;t . This one NEEDS to get to the Senate committee for a vote ....., .. -

Reply75% of guns used in crimes in NJ are purchased in states from VA Down to FLA with no backgroynd checks. In the jnterst of protecting NJ residents, would you come out and publicly support the federal legislation up for a vote in Congress for universal background checks ? We need universal background checks

ReplyWell, I will be voting for the third ward Mathew Sontz and Mayor David Haas. I hope all else will vote democrat too. I will also be working on their campaigns to help them get elected. We need a change in this town in a HUGE way. We don't need residents being mocked and dismissed as I have seen them being treated ( myself included) at town council meetings.

Nuclear bombs don't kill either -- only the people that set them off . Can I have one then ??

ReplyWell it's seems that Mayor Skibitsky hasn't changed one bit .
Since I have been coming to the Town Council
meetings I have seen him being rude and dismissive
to residents and he's been rude and dismissive
to me . He does not deserve to be our Mayor .
David Haas has my vote this time around !!

M Tanner -- write a letter to your local paper asking about gun control. His office reads everything --- There is currently a bi-partisan bill in the House for background checks sponsored by NY Peter King and CA Mike Thompson that is IDENTICAL to the Manchin--Toomey bill. He needs to get on board !!
