CoolVines Tasting Supports Winery Destroyed by Sandy

CoolVines partnered with Savory Spice Shop to create special gifts packs.

CoolVines is inviting the public to stop by its Central Avenue store to "Sip to Save" from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15. "We're having our friend Anthony Austin from Angels' Share Wine Imports come and do a tasting of the Red Hook wines," said CoolVines Lauren Ramos.   The Brooklyn-based winery was completely destroyed during Hurricane Sandy and the only way for them to raise enough money to get back on their feet is to sell through the stock that is in their warehouse, which was unharmed, she explained. "We have special gift packs available which we've collaborated with Savory Spice Shop to create. Feel like getting out of town for a day and visiting a winery? Let CoolVines be your designated driver as well as your tour guide. The wine shop, committed to offering "best of their breed" wines that represent great value, is hosting a one-day winery excursion on Sunday, Aug. 19. Hop on a party bus at either of CoolVines' locations—127 Central Ave., Westfield or 21 Spring St., Princeton, and travel to Brooklyn's Red Hook Winery for a tour, a private tasting and lunch. The winery, located at Pier 41, sources all of the grapes used to make its wine from the North Fork of Long Island, except Riesling grapes, which they acquire from the Finger Lakes.
