Event on November 15th benefits Cancer Stinks
Do some holiday shopping for a good cause as the Junior Woman’s Club of Westfield will be hosting a shopping fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. on November 15 at St. Paul's Church at 414 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ. Fifth grader Nathan Hefner won first place by correctly spelling the word "courage."
Westfield fourth and fifth graders faced off Monday evening in the final round of the 26th annual spelling bee held in the auditorium of Westfield High School. It takes courage to compete in the front of friends, family and classmates and "courage" is exactly the word that won it all for Franklin Elementary School fifth grader Nathan Hefner. In second place was fourth grader Valerie Chang and finishing third was Ronnie Melao, a fifth grader. Both attend Jefferson Elementary School. Sponsored by the Junior Woman's Club of Westfield (JWCW), the fourth graders kicked off the three-day competition last Wednesday evening, while fifth graders competed Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. The top three spellers received prizes including gift certificates …
