Reader's Choice: Who Makes Westfield's Best Brunch?

Mother's Day is coming, so do everyone a favor and show a little love for the place that is Westfield's go-to spot to pamper Mom for her big day.

The word "brunch" just makes you feel warm all over as you contemplate the options for a luscious breakfast/lunch hybrid. Brunch also conveys a leisurely start to the day: You likely slept late, passed on the hectic activities and are poised to pamper yourself by letting someone else do the cooking. Prefer breakfast? Fine. A carving station in your future? Absolutely. The options are plentiful in the buffet that allows you to start with a glass of fresh-squeezed juice (infused, perhaps, with some champagne). Fruit, Eggs Benedict and assorted fresh-from-the-oven goodies have no calories when you take the time to pamper yourself. This week's Readers' Choice is no accident. We know that all good husbands and children want to make mom feel …

Readers' Choice: Who's Your Favorite Westfield Florist?

They bail you out on anniversaries, birthdays — and if you've gotten yourself into trouble — so let everyone know who is the best florist in town.

Imagine surrounding yourself with beautiful flowers all day long, in the sweetest-smelling, every-day-is-the-first-day-of-spring establishment in Westfield. How great would that be? Now imagine that you're also the person who delivers beautiful expressions of love, happiness and joy as well as a comforting affirmation of life's beauty to someone who's going through a difficult time or suffered a loss? Do florists get flowers from friends and family? Not sure who'd deliver to them, but in any event, here's your chance to brighten up their day. Cast your ballot, leave a comment to tell us what makes them so special, and check back during the week — and on Friday when we throw a figurative Patch bouquet to the men and women who earn your …

Readers' Choice: Where's Your Favorite Hair Salon?

Strategic snips, perfect color and a place to, well, let your hair down. Tell us what makes your salon in Westfield a safe haven for your head.

"It's only hair, it'll grow back." You can use that line on the adventurous 14-year-old who tried an asymetrical magenta design just to assert their individualism. But you're a grown-up and have spent a great deal of time and money trying to find the perfect stylist, the person who knows when you're ready to grow it out, when you're ready to restore the proper coloring — or when it's time to try something just a little different.   So, as Patch continues to shine a light on your favorite places in Westfield, let us know who you trust with your hair. It's a special bond that you and that specialist have, so vote for your favorite salon and post a comment about the person with the perfect pair of scissors. As always, we post the survey on …

Readers' Choice: Where is Your Favorite Garden Center?

Where do you go in Westfield for flowers, grass seed, mulch, tomato plants or anything else that makes your garden — and grass — grow.

The mild winter and warm spring have given everyone in Westfield a great headstart on yardwork (whether we wanted it or not). As you wandered around the yard, though, you undoubtedly found remnants of Hurricane Irene and our freak October snowstorm. That storm damage makes the to-do list a little longer, but if you've got a go-to garden center full of helpful lawn-care experts and foliage afficianados, then you're halfway to a beautiful lawn.   So, as we continue the Patch Readers' Choice series, let us know where you go for expert advice, great products and the tools you need to make your property the best on the block. Cast your votes by 9 a.m. Friday morning, post a comment, let us know why your loyalty keeps "growing" for your favorite…

Readers' Choice: Who's Got Your Back With the IRS?

Cast your vote for the Westfield tax preparer who helps you navigate confusing paperwork and stay in good standing with Uncle Sam.

Taxes. It's a dirty word to most, especially at this time of year. If you are like most people, you procrastinate until the last few days — or hours — to finish your yearly paperwork. So, if you've tried to tackle the forms, realized your limitations and sought the help of a trusted CPA or tax service, give them a shout-out in this week's Readers' Choice Poll. With tax day on April 17 looming over anyone who hasn't taken care of their taxes, some guidance from friends and neighbors will be a huge help. So take a look at our poll and cast your ballot. Did we miss someone? Don't hesitate to drop their name into the comments box at the bottom of the story. Voting closes at 9 a.m. on Friday. As always, a story on the winner will follow. We …

Additional ammo in the argument that H-ld-en's name is somehow inappropriate for some ages-- the ad that's showing on this page for me right now is for "KY Date Night Packs". Maybe if I click on it, I'll be taken to the Kentucky Tourism Board website, but I don't think so. (and what makes it jelly and not jam? I've never understood that)   more ›

Readers' Choice: Who is Your Favorite Pediatrician?

Whether it's a sole practitioner or a larger practice, who do you trust in Westfield with your children's health?

Ask parents anywhere and they will discuss with you the joys and stresses of their unpaid, 24/7 job. Just as many of those parents will tell you about moments when the common sense and medical expertise of their pediatricians saved them from a full-blown parenting meltdown. This week's installment of Patch's "Readers' Choice" survey is aimed not merely at casting a vote for your favorite pediatrician, but also getting you to comment about the moments when that doctor made you feel grateful for having them on speed-dial. Whether a true life-saving emergency or a simple, reassuring discussion with you or your child, that relationship is a bond that reinforces a commitment to healthy living and good choices. So make your choice known!  As we …
