Captain Alan Scherb updated council members and residents.
At Tuesday night's Clark Council meeting, Clark Police Captain and Officer-in-Charge Alan Scherb discussed the homicide investigation into the death of Vera Pecoraro on July 7. Pecoraro was found with her throat slit on a couch in the home she lived in alone on Rolling Hill Way. Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said at a press conference that the scene showed no sign of forced entry and that investigators believe the attack was targeted and Pecoraro knew her attacker. "As you are aware, two Saturdays ago officers responded to a house on Rolling Hill Way on report of a female deceased in the house," said Scherb. "Upon arrival, officers saw a female deceased on the couch. They did take notice that it did appear to be suspicious in …

Matthew Dorsi, lawyer for Michael and Theodore Pecoraro, talks with Patch.
Matthew Dorsi, lawyer for Michael and Theodore Pecoraro, says the two are fully cooperating with the investigation into their mother's homicide. "They’re beside themselves," Dorsi told Patch. "They're trying to figure out whatever happened to their mother and are assisting the prosecutor's office in any way, shape or form. The family has been devastated by this senseless act and wants nothing more than to bring the person or persons responsible to justice." Dorsi said all three brothers (Anthony Pecoraro is the another of Vera's sons) have …

Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said that authorities believe the incident was a targeted attack and not a robbery.
Here, a release from today's press conference on the homicide investigation into the death of Clark resident Vera Pecoraro, who was found by police on Saturday. Below, other details from the press conference. Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said that Saturday would have been Clark resident Vera Pecoraro's 74th birthday (born July 7, 1938). She was discovered on her living room floor by her son Anthony after he had not heard from his mother. When police found her, her throat was cut with a serrated knife that was found nearby. Initially, officials had questions about whether or not this might have been a suicide. "That may sound somewhat strange," said Romankow, "however, we’ve had situations where people actually have cut their …

I wonder who else is on the "specifically targeted" list. This sounds like the typical "official" response, another statement by the police to not get the citizens worried that there is a murderer on the loose. We need more details. How can they say this wasn't a robbery at this point in the investigation? It is a bit premature. This sounds like another home invasion with a predator preying on …   more ›
