The following is a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office: A Union County, N.J., man employed by the Westfield, N.J., branch of TD Bank was sentenced Feb. 13 to 37 months in prison for his role in a plan to rob the bank, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. Jelani Bustamonte, 23, of Elizabeth, N.J., previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano to an Information charging him with two counts of criminal conspiracy. On Jan. 26, 2012, Bustamonte was arrested at his home and charged by Complaint. Judge Pisano imposed the sentence today in Trenton federal court. A Union County, N.J., man employed by the Westfield branch of TD Bank, today admitted his role in a plan to rob the bank where he worked, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. Jelani Bustamonte, 23, of Elizabeth, N.J., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano in Trenton federal court to an Information charging him with two counts of criminal conspiracy. A Union County, N.J., man today admitted robbing seven branch locations of TD Bank throughout New Jersey — including the branch on North Avenue East in Westfield, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. The robberies occurred between September 2011 and December 2011. Julio Ferrer, 28, of Elizabeth, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano in Trenton federal court to seven counts of bank robbery. According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court, Ferrer admitted robbing the following TD Bank branches: In every robbery, Ferrer passed handwritten demand notes to bank tellers. An employee of the Westfield branch of TD Bank was arrested Thursday and charged with conspiring to commit bank robbery, the United States Attorney’s Office announced Thursday afternoon. Jelani Bustamonte, 23, was arrested by FBI agents outside his Elizabeth home Thursday morning, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman. The criminal charges stem from alleged communications with a suspect who is believed to have robbed both the Westfield bank and at least one other branch of TD Bank between September and December of last year. On Oct. 19 at 4:34 p.m. a suspect entered the Roselle TD Bank located at 37 St. Georges Ave. He allegedly handed the teller a note that stated "Give me all the money and no one gets hurt." No weapon was shown, the suspect exited the bank with approximately $2,000 in cash. The suspect possibly fled the scene in a dark blue Honda. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Lt.
