Spring Fling in Downtown Westfield is held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Downtown Westfield has been transformed into an outdoor market, filled with food stands, games and activities, with a little something for everyone. What's your favorite part of Spring Fling?
Street fair features live music, games and food from 20 vendors.
Downtown Westfield will once again be transformed into a festive open air market for the 19th annual Spring Fling sponsored by the Greater Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Approximately 300 local merchants, including 20 food booths, will set up shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5. More than 45,000 visitors are expected to come out to enjoy music, crafts and family fun. Last spring's event included rides for children, a hot dog eating contest and even a flash mob. Attendees should save room as WindMill will once again challenge fair-goers to see how hot dogs they can down in two minutes. The contest begins at 1 p.m. at the Main Stage. The Westfield Soccer Association (WSA) will be hosting a booth at this Sunday’s “Spring Fling” in downtown Westfield from 10 AM – 5 PM. Several members of the WSA (coaches, directors and board members) will be present to educate parents and players about the various programs the WSA has to offer including Fun of Soccer, U8 Academy, Recreation in-town, Inter-county, Travel, and FC Premier as well as winter training and summer camps for both boys and girls. We will be offering opportunities to win free Red Bull tickets, Red Bull scarves and signed memorabilia including a jersey signed by the team as well as providing a few giveaways and a chance for our younger soccer stars to score a goal. All WAA activities at Spring Fling are open to all and are free of charge.
The Westfield Art Association (WAA) invites everyone to participate in the creation of artworks through collaborative painting at its booth at Westfield’s Spring Fling on Sunday, May 5, from 10am to 5pm, in downtown Westfield. WAA will also be sponsoring a prize drawing for those who take the fun “Art Personality Quiz”. All WAA activities at Spring Fling are open to all and are free of charge. In collaborative painting, developed in Tunisia and now taught at the Art Students League of New York, multiple individuals take turns adding to a communal painting. At Westfield’s Spring Fling AFS booth, on May 5, exchange students spending a year in New Jersey, as well as families who are hosting students will be discussing their experiences. The value of hosting does not end when the foreign student leaves: Murray Perch, who has operated Sunnyside News at the Westfield train station for over thirty years and serves commuters coffee, newspapers, and treats on their way to the city, speaks fondly about his experience as an AFS host. The long-awaited and much-anticipated 18th annual Spring Fling starts today at 10 a.m. in downtown Westfield. Stop by Patch's booth and meet local editors and learn more about blogging opportunities. It's almost time for Westfield's 18th annual street fair and festival. Spring Fling kicks off at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 6. The rain-or-shine event continues until 5 p.m. The heart of the festivities will take place on East Broad and Elm Streets. More than 45,000 people are expected to fill the downtown area to enjoy music, food, crafts and family fun that includes rides and attractions. Last year, over 300 vendors participated.
