Try Some New Festive Christmas Recipes

Panera, with locations in Westfield and Springfield, offered this appetizer recipe: Jean's Kentucky Bourbon Fig Compote:  PREP TIME: 25 MINUTES  COOK TIME: 15 MINUTES INGREDIENTS DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spread nuts on a rimmed baking sheet and bake for about 6 to 8 minutes until lightly toasted and fragrant. Shake the pan every minute or two, so the nuts do not burn. Remove them from the oven and set aside. 2. Meanwhile, melt butter, sugar, and bourbon in a saucepan on low heat; then add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger, and stir well. 3. Still planning that holiday menu? Local chefs and shops shared some of their favorite recipes. Sage & Savory Sweet Potato Bisque courtesy of Savory Spice Shop: Ingredients: Directions: Add butter and oil to a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Once the butter foams, add the onion and garlic and sauté until soft, about 3 to 4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Add the corn and cook for 1 more minute. Add the sweet potatoes, chicken broth, apple juice, 2 teaspoons seasoning, white pepper, remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt, allspice, and cayenne. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are fork tender, about 20 minutes. Use an immersion blender and puree the bisque until smooth. Taste for seasoning, then stir in…

Panera Bread® Pink Ribbon Bagel™ Effort to Benefit The Cancer Institute of New Jersey

Annual Campaign Honors National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

For more than a decade, “thinking pink” has been a tradition for Panera Bread® bakery-cafés in their effort to highlight breast cancer awareness in their local communities during the month of October.  That campaign, which marks National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, continues this year, with the offering of the Pink Ribbon Bagel. Proceeds from the local sale of this unique treat will benefit the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) Foundation for the sixth year in a row.  CINJ is a Center of Excellence of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
