Westfield High School students won top awards in the Model United Nations conference held January 4 - 6 in Hershey, PA, attended by approximately 50 schools in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. The Westfield High School delegation – comprised of 140 students -- earned the Premier Delegation award. The Outstanding Country Research Paper Award was presented to Westfield High School, with the following students receiving recognition for their preparatory writing on the International Criminal Court: Lyndsay Ripperger, Austen Thien, Kyra Sagal, Leo Kleinman-Lynch, and Maura Heinbokel. Model U.N. delegation continues to rank among top in state.
Early Sunday afternoon, the Westfield High School Model United Nations delegation returned from yet another successful weekend at Hershey, PA. at the annual YMCA Model U.N. conference. Westfield won the honor of premier delegation, and many individuals won Premier Delegate and Most Outstanding First Year Delegate awards. WHS has long been ranked as one of the top Model U.N. programs at the Hershey conference. Three Westfield delegates were also recognized for having written outstanding position papers prior to conference, and eight others were appointed to attend the anuual YMCA national affairs conference, held every summer in North Carolina.
