The boys defeated Westfield 9-5 to win the UCIAA championship finals Tuesday night.
The Summit Hilltoppers dominated the 2013 Union County Tournaments Finals Tuesday, with both the varsity boys taking down the Westfield Blue Devils in a heated match-up at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark. Led by top scorers Austin Carbone and Liam Mennig, the Hilltoppers went into halftime with a 6-2 lead over Westfield. Carbone, Mennig and Matt Maier had two goals each in the first half. Goalie Scott Caputo had two saves in the first half, but also gave up two goals to the Blue Devils. Westfield put two more points on the board early in the third quarter, scoring two quick goals. Summit's offense picked up again in the fourth quarter, with Carbone scoring a goal (Mennig assisted) to bring the score to 7-4, with just over 9 minutes …

For the first time in history, four women lacrosse players from Westfield have committed to play Division 1 college lacrosse. All four players competed together on the Blue Devils Lacrosse Club during middle school, received training from the Westfield Lacrosse Club, and have played the past few years on their high school and travel club teams. Each player verbally committed to a college during their junior year, and three recently signed their national letters of intent (NLI) on November 14. Mariah Baker is a versatile midfielder who plays for Westfield High School and Metro Lacrosse Club. Mariah also runs cross country and winter track for Westfield when not playing lacrosse. Mary Washington University sophomore and 2010 Westfield High School graduate John Bohlinger was named to the 2012 All-Capital Athletic Conference 2nd team. Bohlinger led the UMW Eagles with 42 points in 14 games, netting 26 goals, 16 assists and 35 ground balls. During the 2010 season at WHS, Bohlinger, a captain, led his team with 85 points (50 goals and 35 assists).
