Health in Motion Offers Help to Those in Need

Charge phones or enjoy hot coffee and bagels.

Health in Motion, located at 524 Westfield Ave., is opening its yoga studio and practice to anyone who needs to get warm. "We have hot apple cider, tea, coffee and bagels," said Caitlin Fitzpatrick, marketing coordinator for Health In Motion, LLC. "They can charge phones, computers, et cetera and also access to the Internet. We will also be accepting donations (clothing, baby products, toiletries) to give to the women that will be donating to Union Beach." Also, Kim Fong will be taking appointments for acupuncture. "We would really like to help as this is devastating for us all," Fitzpatrick said. "I am a Jersey Shore native and my friends and family are all in such a terrible situation down there and we want to do our part." For more …

The Week Ahead: Meetings and Yoga Offerings

What's happening in Westfield this week?

Monday: From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Westfield Memorial Library children in kindergarten through fifth grade can drop by the Youth Services department for some free, friendly help from a local teen. Assistance is offered to full-service Westfield Memorial Library card holders only. At 7 p.m. the Junior Women's Club of Westfield's annual spelling bee final elimination round takes place in the Westfield High School auditorium. Fourth and fifth graders competed last Wednesday and Thursday and the winners will face off this evening. Yoga for Reproductive Health with Health in Motion’s Kim Ellner takes place tonight from 7 to 8:15 p.m. This is the first of two, two-week trials before a six-week series begins on March 5. Health in Motion Starts New Year With New Workshops

The Westfield Avenue holistic health center offers new opportunities for wellness.

If one of your New Year's resolutions involved the pursuit of wellness, Westfield Avenue's holistic center, offering a variety of yoga classes and workshops, may help. Kim Fong, physical therapist, acupuncturist and owner of Health in Motion, is interested in sharing the wealth of wellness with everyone, not just existing clients, she said. The center, in its 10th year, is located inside a Victorian building and Fong said she was thrilled when she was able to expand her physical therapy and acupuncture practice to include a small wellness studio on the second floor, allowing her to utilize her knowledge of both Eastern and Western medical practices and methods.
