Flu Vaccine Available Through NJ Public Health Departments

Clifton Health Department holds flu clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. today.

The New Jersey Department of Health continues to report high flu activity throughout Union County. As it is the middle of flu season, the Department of Health advises that the best tool to safeguard against becoming ill is to receive an influenza vaccination. While the Westfield Regional Health Department has exhausted its supply of flu vaccine, other resources are available. Public health nurse Leslie Leonard, RN, BSN of the Clifton Health Department, noted that while many New Jersey residents are familiar with links such as Find a Flu Shot Locator, Minute Clinic. com, www.njpublichealth.com offers direct access to making appointments at over 14 health departments, many of which still have flu vaccine.  The Clifton Health Department, …

Westfield Board of Health Warns Flu Season Off to Earliest Start in a Decade

It is not too late to get the flu vaccine.

To the Editor: The Westfield Board of Health met on December 3, 2012. The influenza season is off to its earliest start in nearly a decade and could be a bad one, according to the CDC.  The flu has markedly increased in parts of the country and the primary strain circulating tends to make people sicker than other types. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO GET THE FLU VACCINE. You can still protect yourself, your family and your friends by being vaccinated against flu, especially since this year’s vaccine appears to be a good match.
