Ladies, Merchants Celebrate Girls' Night Out in Westfield

This biannual event attracted women from 110 different towns, according to Downtown Westfield Corporation executive director Sherry Cronin.

The  fifth biannual Girls’ Night Out, sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation on April 18, was a blast, despite dreary weather. While shopping, women enjoyed complimentary refreshments, discounted prices, and live music. GNO gives stores in Westfield the opportunity to promote their business and products. Said Executive Director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation Sherry Cronin, “We want to hear the registers ringing!” GNO has become increasingly popular over the years. Said Cronin, “The first GNO was in 2010 and it wasn’t as big of an event. This year (the event) attracted people from 110 different towns.” Participants checked in at Turning Point, where pre-registrants received a special gift from the Downtown Westfield …

Are You Ready for Girls Night Out?

Evening of dining, shopping and giveaways begins at 5 p.m.

In addition to the many discounts listed here, other Westfield businesses are offering specials just for this evening.  Ferraros is hosting free appetizers tonight on the second floor for ladies night. Save the dates for Girls Night Out, Sweet Sounds Jazz Festival and more.

The Downtown Westfield Corporation has announced the dates for the annual events it sponsors.  The following information comes from the DWC's newsletter: Girls Night Out - Thursday evening, April 18, 5pm - 9pm 17th Annual "Sweet Sounds Downtown" Jazz Festival will take place every Tuesday evening in July and August (with Wednesday night rain dates) from 7pm to 9pm, throughout the downtown. Winners Announced in Free Parking Drawing as Part of Restaurant Week

The contest is part of Westfield's Restaurant Week activities.

The Downtown Westfield Corporation (DWC) announced last month that as part of Restaurant week, diners would have the chance to enter a random drawing to win one up to 50 hours of free parking. The winners of the contest are Denise Sherwood of Westfield, Kim Bober of Cranford, Courtney Teicher of Scotch Plains, and Izabella Zeldich of Edison. These winners will each receive a $25 parking card to enhance their shopping and dining experiences in Westfield. Westfield parking cards can be used in any lot or metered on-street spot. Westfield Decks the Halls as Santa Comes to Town

Annual tree lighting took place at 5 p.m.

Hundreds braved the cold to catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus as they came down Elm Street by fire truck in time for the annual tree lighting at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25.  The event, which included hot chocolate provided by Xocolatz, hot cider courtesy of the Lion's Club of Westfield, and entertainment by the Community Band of Westfield, is sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation. Children had a chance to visit Santa and his missus and share their wish lists. Even Westfield Mayor Andy Skibitsky seems to be asking the jolly couple for a cell phone upgrade (see attached video.)

Annual Westfield Tree Lighting Set for 5 p.m. Today

Franklin Junior Troop #645 will be collecting new mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and socks for needy families throughout New Jersey.

Westfield's annual tree lighting will take place at 5 p.m, Sunday, Nov. 25 at the North Avenue train station. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck for the festivities which include hot chocolate provided by Xocolatz, hot cider courtesy of the Lion's Club of Westfield, goodies, and entertainment by the Community Band of Westfield. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Westfield Corporation. Note: A collection box will be available at the Tree Lighting for the Girl Scouts Annual Mitten Tree Project. Franklin Junior Troop #645 will be collecting new mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and socks for needy families throughout New Jersey.
