Monday marks one year since the death of Westfield firefighter.
Monday marks one year since the death of heroic Westfield firefighter Jim Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer died following a freak accident while off duty at his Mountainside home. The 30-year-old third generation Westfield firefighter was remembered for five years to the day before his death using his slender frame to rescue a child trapped in a narrow hole at Tamaques Park. He gained national acclaim for his heroic actions. Pfeiffer was buried at Fairview Cemetery following an emotional funeral later that week a year ago. He has been memorialized in several fundraisers to benefit his young daughter, Carly, in the past year. Pfeiffer was promoted to lieutenant following his death. Please share your memories of Firefighter Jim Pfeiffer in the comments …
