Proceeds from the benefit concert will go toward WHS Helping Hands fund and Hurricane Sandy relief efforts at the Jersey shore.
Westfield High School's auditorium will be transformed into a rock-n-roll venue on Friday, Jan. 25 as local musicians, spanning multiple generations, come together for a concert starting at 7 p.m. to aid victims of Superstorm Sandy. An all-ages show will start at noon, while a 21-and-older set is planned for 7 p.m.
Friends of Sound Station owners Bob Larsen and Liz Walsh and fellow music fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a full-day festival of sound starting at noon on Saturday, April 21. For the first time since his South Avenue West music mecca was destroyed by a six-alarm fire in late January, Larsen has organized a full day of live music. From 2 to 9 p.m. today, bands, including Mothguts, Ballroom, Backpack Superheros, Infernal Overdive, Vasudeva and The Ilk Collective, will jam at the Knights of Columbus in Garwood to support Larsen in his effort to rebuild. The afternoon will also included catered food and home-brewed beer. Since the fire occurred, more than $16,000, three times the initial goal, has been raised for Larsen and his wife Liz Walsh via an Internet fundraising site in the hope …
