Horrible- the owner is a sweaty sloppy mess and the food is boring and not very authentic for an italian restaurant. The only adjective that comes to mind when I think of Blvd Bistro is AWFUL. Every time i drive by the place looks empty- I can't imagine it will be around for much longer.

We go to the Boulevard Bistro regularly because we find the food is excellent, the service is friendly and efficient, and the space is comfortable enough. It does not pretend to be 'fine dining,' but rather a comfortable place to be a regular. Among my favorites are: spinach salad with raw mushrooms and delicious pieces of bacon, stuffed mushrooms, braciole (sometimes beef, other times pork; both excellent), clams over linguini with white sauce, the 'regular' tilapia, several pasta dishes, and veal parm. It can be noisy when crowded, but during the week it is best. I have never been treated rudely and I have not had bad food. And I know about food and wine (and they let you pour your own wine--something I very much prefer!). But understand what it is! And the prices are reasonable. You can afford to go often. The stars are awarded on a relative scale. Of course it is not a top flight gourmet 'destination' restaurant. Just an excellent neighborhood bistro. What more would you want?

I had the worst experience at this restaurant. My wife made a reservation to sit outside. When we got there, the owner told us there was no reservations are taken to sit oustide. My wife knew exactly who she spoke to, recognizing the girl's voice as she had served us several times before as our waitress. The owner stated that it was impossible for anyone to do such a thing. Eventually, we were seated outside facing South Avenue. We then asked for cushions, the owner stated that they were in the basement and couldn't access them. Several of us ordered from a fixed menu special that included cheesecake as a dessert. The cheesecake wasn't available, so we asked for sorbee as a replacement, the owner stated that he'd be losing money if ihe substituted it for the cheesecake. Boulevard Bistro has lost the business of at least (5) couples that frequented his business, not to mention countless others who will be informed of this experinece as time goes on....

I have a three strikes you are out rule. I normally give a restaurant three tries before I write if off as a place to never go again. Unfortunately, this restaurant only gets two strikes because I was hit in the head by the fastball of how bad my meal was. The first time I went there... it was adequate but not good. I went there a few weeks ago with my wife and was horrified by the candied marinara sauce they served with my pasta. Marinara sauce is considered by many to be the benchmark for Italian restaurants and this was by far the worst marinara I have ever had. It would have been better if they spooned Heinz ketchup over the pasta. I couldn't eat my chicken parm, and as I walked out I noticed two other customers plates that were full, pushed away, and covered with red sauce.

Boulevard Bistro is not fine dining, but the food is a very good value. It offers those visiting Westfield an alternative to what most people view as Italian food in a more relaxed environment. I found the Restaurant's owner to be accommodating and the servers friendly.

my bad for wanting to warn people how horrible this place really is. if i could find another 20 websites to rate this restaurant as the worst of the worst, i would. sorry if i offended you "cranford soccer mom". i'm quite intrigued how by being honest about a place that i think is disgusting, helps you to know "what type of person i am". you don't know me so it is a pretty bold statement to make.

3 strikes and your out! This place is the worst of the worst. Food is disgusting, service is horrendous and if that wasn't bad enough, the owner/manager is one of the rudest people I have ever met. I just read the Zagat review- good to know that I am not alone in my belief that Blvd Bistro brings our town down! Recently the restaurant has been closed on random nights and they now do not open for lunch on the weekends- hopefully, the place will shut down and a respectable restaurant will move in. I've gone there three times (hoping each time that it would be better than the last). Unfortunately, I kept getting let down more and more until this evening, when I had the most unfortunate dining experience of my life. This place has less class than McDonalds. I give every restaurant the benefit of the doubt...maybe they are short staffed, maybe the chef is tired, maybe the manager had a bad day...but when you insult me and my friends, make us wait an hour after you told us you would have a table ready for us when we arrived and think that you are better than us (dude- you work at a lousy unauthentic Italian hole in the wall), that's when I draw the line. I cannot stress this enough- this place is not worth your time or your money. There are so many better real Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. I'm sure this place will close soon but until then, stay away!

I have recently read the same review from the same person bashing the boulevard bistro and was very hesitant to try it. We gave in this past weekend and did go for dinner. I was completely satisfied as I dine out often throughout Westfield and Cranford. The food was served hot. I am a picky eater and was impressed by the menu choices. The interior was clean and the out door seating seemed relaxing if you like that type of dining. As for the reviewer posting the same review online at every website you should give it a rest. We get it. You had a bad experience there. I had a bad experience at Macy's the other day, but I didn't go online bashing it. It shows what type of person you are by doing it, because we were almost driven away from your bad talk, but I am glad we went otherwise. I don't go online to leave reviews , I but I had to after ready this persons. The Boulevard Bistro has great food and as I looked around inside I saw all the other customers in there were enjoying themselves as well. Don't believe what reviews you read online about restaurants, because sometimes they are people with an agenda, as we can see with this one person posting the same review on and on. It was a great restaurant, the food was good and we had a great time!
