Westfield School Robotic Designs in High Gear -

Westfield Robotics FIRST Tech Challenge teams 7102 and 5968 representing Westfield High School and Edison Intermediate School ended the qualifying season in 1st and 2nd place and a spot in the NJ FTC State Championship.  Pictured with their robots are from back, left to right: Sean Bonasera (teacher/coach), Jack Mulvanerty (9th grade), Neil Makhija (10th grade), Spencer Fishman (9th grade), Alex Beals (12th grade), Jordan Hindes (10th grade), Alistair Kapadia (9th grade), Mike Carides (10th grade), Vivek Sreenivasan (9th grade), Eli Zidel (9th grade), Zach Kronheimer (8th grade), Joe Detrano (11th grade), Thomas Han (8th grade), Mark Gillespie (12th grade), Jennifer Rogers (10th grade), and Evan Binder (9th grade).  Not pictured is Matt Schiff (9th grade).  Team 7102 was awarded the Parkway Division Finalist Award after moving into the divisional finals against former World Championship teams.  FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization devoted to helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, engineering, technology, and math.
