Franklin Family Math Night - A Gold Medal Event

Over 300 students, parents and teachers filled the Franklin Elementary School gymnasium in Westfield to participate in the fifth annual Family Math Night on Thursday, February 6.  This year's theme was Winter Olympics Kick-Off Celebration and featured such math events as using probability for bobsledding, using map scale to determine the distance between Olympic countries, and using reflection to move a skier through a downhill maze.  Enjoying math games with Franklin third grade teacher Danielle Soular are (l-r) first graders Sawyer Moss, Catherine Ritter, Abigail Silverman, Sofia Schwartz, and second grader Lina Wright.
