What you need to know the week of Sept. 9 in Westfield:

We’ll talk to the people behind Cookies for Kids Cancer, who will be setting up shop at Westfield’s Fest-i-Fall on Sept. 22 to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. Check back for the full story.

Meetings: The Westfield Council will meet at 8 p.m.. On the agenda is the demolition of several single-family dwellings and a resolution to appoint a new Emergency Management Director, view the full agenda, here

The Board of Education will also host a workshop meeting at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the Board Goals.

On September 11, the town will remember the twelve Westfield resident who lost their lives on the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks with a ceremony at the memorial located at North Avenue and East Broad Street beginning at 6:30 p.m. 

At 7 p.m. on Sept. 11, Westfield resident and Director emeritus of the Alan Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers University, Martin Robins will speak on “New York Direct” at 7p.m at the Westfield Memorial Library. Robins is an advocate for Westfield, and other Raritan Valley Line towns, to receive the dual-powered locomotives ensuring a one-seat ride into Penn Station.

Friday Night Football: The Blue Devils (varsity) take on Elizabeth at home at 3 p.m.
