Your Ticket Inside the Homes You've Always Wanted to See

The friends of the Westfield Symphony Orchestra are sponsoring a tour of five homes to raise money for the symphony.

If you've ever driven by the huge white house on Mountain Avenue in Westfield and have always wanted to see what it looks like inside, Saturday is your chance.

The friends of Westfield Symphony Orchestra are sponsoring a tour of five historic and exquisite homes in Westfield and Cranford to raise money for the symphony.

"I think people will just be amazed at the magnitude of what they will be seeing," said Gretchen Castorina, who is organizing the 26th annual tour called the Tour of Notable Homes.

The money raised by tickets purchased for the tour will support the Westfield Symphony's performances and educational programs. Castorina said the event  usually generates about $20,000 every year. She said it's money that the symphony needs in light of reduced funding for music and music education.

"In this era of decreased funds from other state, federal and local sources, we need to step up to the plate," Castorina said.

The tour will feature stops at four homes in Westfield and one in Cranford. Attendees will get to marvel at the architecture of the homes, as well as the interior decorating and landscaping.

"The quality of the homes this year is to the maximum," Castorina said.

The four Westfield homes are 222 Kimball Avenue, 104 Watchung Fork, 605 Mountain Avenue and 124 Effingham Place. The Cranford home is located at 219 Holly Street.

Each home will also have food or entertainment. Trader Joe's is providing food at the home in Cranford. A pianist will be playing at one of the houses in Westfield. Another home will have a raffle fundraiser raffling of food and services from local merchants. Plants and flowers will be on sale at the Mountain Avenue home in Westfield.

The tour is this Saturday from 10am-3pm. Tickets are $30 in advance. On the day of the event tickets can be purchased at any of the homes on the tour for $35 with cash or check. For tickets call 908-232-9400
