Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad EMT Receives Overlook Medical Center EMS Award

Angela Ho has been a member of the all volunteer squad for two years and currently serves as a training sergeant.

Westfield Volunteer Rescue Squad EMT Angela Ho recently received the 2013 Overlook Medical Center Excellence in EMS award. The award was presented to Miss Ho at the annual Excellence in EMS awards dinner that took place on May 23rd at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.

Ho has been a member of the all volunteer squad for two years and currently serves as a training sergeant. In that position she hopes to streamline the EMT training protocols for squad members. She is a 2012 graduate of North Plainfield High School and is currently attending Rutgers Newark.

When asked why she volunteers as an EMT, Angela answers “I enjoy doing the most for others, so why not use some of my time and energy to help people”. Angela enjoys responding to both trauma and CPR calls, where she can put her EMT skills to good use with am immediate impact on the patient.

Squad president Susan Lagano offers, “Angela is a dedicated volunteer and great role model for our younger members”. Reid Edles, squad captain adds, “Angela Hoʼs volunteer commitment proves that a young person can have a busy life and still manage to find time to volunteer”.

The all-volunteer rescue squad is in its 62nd year of providing BLS emergency medical services, 24-7, to the town of Westfield. The squad is supported entirely by donation and does not charge for its services.
