The Paul Jackson Fund Seeks Volunteers

Charity is preparing for its annual 5K run/walk.

As The Paul Jackson Fund, a charity of last resort, readies for its fourth annual 5K run/walk to be held Sunday, Sept. 21 in Oak Ridge Park, the non-profit is asking for the community's help.

The Fund, located at 223 Elmer St. in Westfield, is looking for volunteers to help place labels on run/walk brochures at 7 p.m. Monday.

In 1989, Jackson, 28, underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his spinal cord. A life-long athlete, the Westfield resident was left paralyzed. When insurance would not cover his rehabilitation program, Jackson's medical bills began to mount. Family and friends rallied together to raise funds and the The Paul Jackson Fund was born.

Jackson spent the last 20 years of his life making it his mission to return the generosity and kindness that had been shown to him during his time of need.
