Girl Scouts Honored With Highest Honor

Annual awards ceremony called highest honor in Girl Scouting.

It was a beautiful evening as people walked into the First Congregational Church in downtown Westfield for a ceremony Tuesday evening.

Thirty-three Westfield Girl Scouts from ten different Troops were recognized for various achievements in the community and received awards at the Gold and Silver Awards Ceremony on Tuesday.

"These awards are national awards," said Westfield Girl Awards Chair Bernadine Liebrich. "They are the highest at each level."

The prestigious awards are given to Girl Scouts who show outstanding leadership in the community as well as exemplifying other values the organization teaches.

"For the gold and silver awards, Girl Scouts have to demonstrate leadership, invest time in personal development  and career planning, and do a project that will benefit the community," said Liebrich.
