WHS Girls Swim Team Wins Fourth Consecutive State Title

No. 1 Westfield defeated No. 4 Hunterdon Central, 91-79.

The Westfield High School girls swim team clinched its fourth consecutive state title this afternoon, winning the Public A State Championship at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.

In a Blue Devil vs. Red Devil matchup, No. 1 Westfield bested No. 4 Hunterdon Central, 91-79. This is the team's sixth title in seven years, according to NJ.com

Westfield took first and third place in the 100-yard freestyle event. Westfield's Ellie Reinhardt, recently selected as a high school Top Performer by The Star Ledger, bested Jessica Ambrose of Hunterdon Central in the 500-yard freestyle event. Reinhardt also took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:54.93.

Sarah Cronin of Westfield won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:08.60.

The 100-yard breaststroke clinched the meet for the Blue Devils.

This is the second year in a row that both the girls and boys teams have taken the state title. A parade welcoming both teams home will begin at approximately 6 p.m. and end at Westfield High School.
