Westfield Boys and Girls Swim Teams Win State Semi-Finals

Teams to compete in state championships Saturday.

This story was updated Wednesday to include meet times for State Finals.

Westfield High School boys and girls swim teams emerged from the pool victorious at the State Semi-finals Tuesday in Princeton.

The Westfield boys team bested Hunterdon Central, 93-77, making their record 14-2-0 for the season.

The No. 1 ranked girls team beat No. 6 Hillsborough, 86-84, making their season's record 16-0-0.

Both teams will compete in the State Finals Saturday at The College of New Jersey. The boys team will swim at 2 p.m. and the girls team will compete at 3:45 p.m. In the event that either or both the boys and girls teams win, as they did in 2012, Westfield will welcome the swimmers home with a "ticker tape" parade, expected to begin at approximately 6 p.m.

Check back with Patch Saturday to find out if the Blue Devils continue their winning streak and for additional information about the possible parade.
