World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ - Westfield Area Y - Register Now

The Westfield Area Y is participating in a “record-breaking” event and invites the community to come and swim on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street in Westfield.  Community swimmers, ages three and up can be a part of The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ to help break the Guinness World Record.  Participants will swim from 11 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. at the Y and then relax with Open Gym time from Noon - 1 p.m.

More than 20,000 kids and adults on five different continents helped spread the message that Swimming Lessons Save Lives in 2011.  News coverage about the program generated more than 20 million impressions in the US alone!  Tragically, drowning remains the second leading cause of injury-related death of children ages 1-14.  This year, Olympic Gold Medalists Rowdy Gaines and Janet Evans, along with kids and families at aquatic facilities all around the globe will join for The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson™ to break the world record to spread the word that Swimming Lessons Save Lives.™

Be a part of this amazing, life-saving, Guinness World Record ™ setting event and participate and help prevent drowning.  It’s FREE to members and non-members and open to all swim levels.  Registration is required by Sunday, June 10, 2012.  Interested swimmers can register at the Main Y Facility Welcome Center.  In addition, all participants will be entered into a drawing to win FREE swim lessons.
