Westfield Teen Selected to Attend National Young Leaders State Conference

Evan Gruters will attend the Princeton-based conferenced in February.

The following is a press release:

Outstanding seventh grade Roosevelt School student, Evan Gruters, will attend this year's National Young Leaders State Conference in Princeton from Feb. 21 - 24, 2013.  

Nominated by his teachers, Gruters will be working with other students from 30 cities around the nation to develop his recognized leadership skills via a program called "Courageous Leadership."  He will be working in a group setting with his peers to build a toolkit of strategies that will empower him to successfully create and execute his role as a leader in his New Jersey community.

Gruters, 13, resides in Westfield with both his parents and three siblings. He is an avid basketball player for St. Helen's Church and the Westfield Basketball Association. He's also involved with Westfield Boys Lacrosse, and swims competitively for the 2012 Champion Surfrider Beach Club's swim team in Seabright, NJ. He maintains an excellent academic record and is involved in many community projects in his area.
