Westfield Preschool Application Deadline Approaches

The deadline to apply for preschool is Feb. 7.

The Westfield Public School District is currently accepting applications for the preschool program for the 2014-2015 school year.

Students are chosen for the general education preschool by lottery. The application deadline is Feb. 7 by 2 pm.

Westfield’s preschool program is part of the Lincoln School’s Early Childhood Learning Center. Classes meet Monday through Friday in a morning or afternoon sessions. Morning sessions are held from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. for 3-year-olds and afternoon sessions are held from 12:30 to 3 p.m for 4-year-olds.

Applicants must be residents of Westfield and be three or four year olds before Oct. 2014. Applications are available through the district website at www.westfieldnjk12.org/preschool or during school hours from Lincoln School, the Office of Special Education Services and the main office of any of the elementary schools.

The District will host the lottery drawing at Lincoln School on Feb. 7 at 3 p.m..  All of the applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by phone and or email.

When applying, the district must receive an original birth certificate with raised seal and proof of residency for new students admitted to the program. A tuition fee of $330 per month will be charged for students in the general education program. Special education students will also be accepted without a lottery system.

According to the district, students who qualify under the income eligibility guidelines set forth under the Federal Child Nutrition Program may be eligible for a reduced charge.
