  • Graduation will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening on the field next to the staff parking lot at WHS.
  • Due to predicted extreme heat, the ceremony will be altered to shorten the event.
  • The ceremony will be televised live in the air-conditioned auditorium. Seating is first come, first seated.
  • If rain is predicted, the ceremony will be moved to the .
  • It is suggested that everyone, including graduates, bring water with them and that light clothing be worn.

Krysta Huber, President of the WHS Student Government, said in order to cut down on the length of the ceremony, the intial procession is going to be approximately five minutes shorter.

"Basically, each row of students will just be ushered in sooner with less pausing," Huber said. "Mr. Renwick (WHS Principal) is also speaking much more briefly than usual. He gave his speech to the graduates in detail at our practice (Wednesday morning)."

In addition to Renwick, Huber, who will attend Washington and Lee University in the fall, will give a speech. She said it will focus on incorporating the spirit of graduation into everyday life.

"My message to the grads is for them to remember that every day is graduation day so that they will always work hard to make new accomplishments," she said.

To read Huber's speech in its entirety, check back with Patch on Friday.

Along with Huber, Class Council President Bernadette Hopen will also give a speech.

"The guest speaker is an army major and WHS alum," Huber said.

The school district will update its website if any new information becomes available.
