Westfield Fourth Grader Writes First Newspaper Article

One Washington Elementary School student was so excited to be apart of his fourth grade teacher's bottle cap project he wanted to share it with the rest of the community.

Aidan Supranowitz took it upon himself, with some help from his teacher, to write an article about the experience.

Mrs.D’Amico, the art teacher at Washington Elementary School has made the famous painting “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh out of bottle caps!

Mrs.D’Amico was inspired to use bottle caps because of what she saw on the internet, in the newspaper, at art museums, and at a Newark school. All the students at Washington Elementary collected bottle caps for this project, but the 4th grade helped sort and put the bottle caps into place.

At first Mrs.D’Amico was nervous about what the bottle cap masterpiece was going to look like, but according to Mrs.D’Amico, “I’m very happy with the result.”

Students in the 4th grade were chosen for this project because these students learned about Vincent Van Gogh and “Starry Night” is his most famous painting. The 4th grade learned how to work together and learned art lessons about landscape, such as, foreground, middle ground, and background.
