Westfield Crossing Guards Recognized for Dedication

Crossing guards received personalized certificates handmade by students.

Close to 100 crossing guards were honored for their efforts on behalf of Westfield students at a recognition ceremony held Friday, May 11 in the Community Room of the Municipal Building.

The event, sponsored by the Westfield Parent Teacher Committee, was an opportunity to thank the crossing guards for all that they do for our
children, explained Lisa Wendel. 

Crossing guards were greeted by colorful balloons, which decorated the entrance and welcomed them to the breakfast. donated coffee and donated bagels, cream cheese and orange juice.

"The room looked fantastic with the colorful banners, created by each of the children representing the elementary schools and Lincoln School, including children from the Leaps and Bounds program," Wendel said. "Each crossing guard, approximately 100 of them, was called up and given a personalized certificate, handmade card by the children at , and applauded for their dedicated efforts day in and day out to service the youngest members of our community. We felt that the crossing guards really appreciated the event."
