Westfield Crew Competes in Back-to-Back Regattas

Westfield Crew saw a lot of action this past weekend, competing in back-to-back regattas. 

Saturday’s competition was at the North Jersey Championship Regatta (NJCR) hosted at a brand new waterfront development, Overpeck Park in Teaneck/Leonia, NJ.  

Westfield Crew had a dominant showing, with four boats awarded medals in their categories and with a strong showing overall. 

The Men’s JV quad of Matt Lazzarotti, Drew Melussi, David Adsit and Ben Howell
were awarded gold medals for their first place finish. 

Men’s Varsity Quad of David Verchick, Henry Hershey, Mike Paone and Matt Huff were awarded medals for their second place finish.

Two Westfield Boats competed in the Women’s JV quad race. Teammates Jenny Amador, Sara Hoerrner, Sandy Choi and Marissa Jennings won gold medals for their first place finish. Teammates Sarah Sarkos, Helen Keating, Emily Simpson and Emily Mclane placed second.

Women’s Novice Quad of Melanie Snyder, Logan Schwartz, Julia Abbattista and Alexandra Colucci finished 2nd in their race.

Lightweight doubles partners, Delia Annitaskis and Charlotte Dreizen blew the JV field away beating the next fastest boat by 1 minute and 3 seconds. They were awarded gold medals for their strong showing.

Doubles partners, Mike Paone and Matt Lazzarotti had a first place finish in the Men’s doubles heats, and their boat advanced to the finals, finishing third.

Sunday’s competition was at the Manny Flick Regatta in Philadelphia.
Men’s Novice quad of Chip Pipala, Alex Schneider, Tristan Orr, and Jordan Hindes finished in 4th place.

Men’s Varsity quad of Drew Mellusi, David Verchick, Henry Hershey and Matt Huff finished in 4th place.

Women’s JV quad of Jenny Amador, Sandy Choi, Sara Hoerrner, and Marissa Jennings finished in 3rd place.

Women’s Novice quad of Melanie Snyder, Helen Keating, Logan Schwartz, and Julia Abbattista finished in 4th place.

Lightweight doubles partners Delai Annitsakis and Charlotte Dreizen placed 4th out of 10 boats in the JV field.

Partners Mike Paone and Matt Lazzarotti finished 6th in their Men’s JV doubles race.
