Washington PTO Acknowledges Team Effort for Annual Performance

First time writer/new parent wrote the script of annual show.

A team effort was required to produce, "Believe," the annual show at Washington Elementary School this past weekend.

Stephanie Campenello, the president of the school's Parent Teacher Organization, said the show was produced by an entire parent volunteer group. She noted that Julie Shanebrook, who wrote the show which centered around an effort to stop a condominium complex being built on Mindowaskin Park, is a new parent to the school. Shanebrook has a first grader and won the annual competition to author the show.

Campenello recognized the two parents who served as directors, Janet Sarkos and Charlie Bowman, along with the four parent producer: Joe Ascione, MaryClaire Givelber, Linda Habgood and Carl Pansini.

Parent volunteers also included all of the show's actors, dancers, chorus members, set designers and painters, band members, musical directors, stage crew, sound engineers, costume designers, make up and hair, alumni coordinators, sales people, concessions workers and ushers. School faculty and the principal also made appearances in the show.
