Video: School System Accepts Monetary Gifts

Funds used for arts and sports programs.

The Board of Education has accepted $46,371.50 in gifts from four non-profit groups in town to fund various arts and sports programs.

BOE President Julia Walker made the announcement last week that the funds would be utilized for items ranging from a baseball team to piano tuning.

Donor Amount Use Westfield Baseball League $7,500 8th Grade Baseball Team Girls Softball League of Westfield $7,500 8th Grade Softball Team Westfield Theatre Guild $2,500 Eight microphones for WHS drama department. Westfield Coalition for the Arts $20,000 Upgrade the WHS fine arts graphics lab. Westfield Coalition for the Arts $3,000 Hire professional musicians for the pit crew for the WHS spring musical. Westfield Coalition for the Arts $4,093.50 WHS, RIS and EIS drama and forensics entry fees for 2010-2011.
