Tamaques Variety Show is 'Solid Gold'

Tamaques Elementary School celebrates 50th anniversary during annual Variety Show.

Tamaques Elementary School is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the annual Tamaques Variety Show on April 5th and 6th.

The theme for the show is in honor of the anniversary. All of the music for the show will be gold hits from the last 50 years, ranging from 'Imagine' by John Lennon to 'Call Me Maybe' by Carly Rae Jepson.

With the help of parent volunteers, students learned dance moves for the songs they will perform in the show. Said parent volunteer and co-producer Paula McCauley, "All of the kids have a say in what song they want to do, but the fifth graders get to choreograph their own dance routines.”

The Variety Show is Tamaques Schools’ biggest fundraiser and the money made from this event goes toward many of the activities provided to the students throughout the year.

The show will be held at Westfield High School on at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5 and at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6.
