Students Graduate, Earn Honors from Colleges and Universities

The following information is provided by schools.

The following area residents have been named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the Spring 2013 semester.

To be eligible for second honors, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Jill Salisbury, daughter of Carl Salisbury and Casey Chandler, Westfield, has been named to the 2013 Lawrence University dean's list for maintaining a 3.4 grade point average or higher for the full past academic year. Salisbury is a 2011 graduate of Westfield High School.

Miami University awarded 3,678 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 11 at Yager Stadium.

Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio, offering more than 100 degree programs in humanities, science, engineering, business, education and fine arts.

Kimberly Sheran Berke of Westfield, New Jersey (07090) received a B.S. in Business degree Cum Laude.

Harrison Charles Sacks of Westfield, New Jersey (07090) received a Bachelor of Arts degree .

Miami University students who ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2012-2013 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

Chang Hee Han was a recipient of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University, where Han is a member of the Class of 2014 and studies Molecular Biology.

To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses. Han is a graduate of Union Cty Acad of Al Health Sc, and lives in Westfield, NJ.

The following students were named to the Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester at Washington University in St. Louis:

Katharine Grace Jaruzelski of Westfield, NJ (07090), was named to the Dean's List. Jaruzelski is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences.

Samantha Haley Hindes of Westfield, NJ (07090), was named to the Dean's List. Hindes is enrolled in the university's John M. Olin School of Business.

Moira Kathleen Smith of Westfield, NJ (07090), was named to the Dean's List. Smith is enrolled in the university's John M. Olin School of Business.

Berklee College of Music announces that Nicholas Ertman of Westfield has earned placement on the Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2013 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.
Bard College at Simon's Rock | The Early College announces that Nate Shoobs of Westfield, NJ, has earned a place on the dean's list for the spring semester. Shoobs completed 10th grade at Westfield High Schoolbefore leaving to attend early college. Simon's Rock is the only college in the country specifically designed for bright, highly motivated students ready to enter college early, usually after the 10th or 11th grade.

The following local students have been named to the Marist College Dean's List for the spring 2013 semester:

Amanda Markowski, Westfield, NJ, is a member of the Class of 2014 and is majoring in Psychology.

Ryan Scrudato, Westfield, NJ, is a member of the Class of 2013 and is majoring in English Writing - Adolescence Education.

To achieve this honor, a student must carry 12 or more credits that semester and have a 3.5 grade point average or above.

On a morning marked by wispy clouds in a blue sky, more than 21,000 people -- graduates and their families and friends -- braved gale force winds to celebrate the University of Delaware's 164th Commencement, held Saturday, May 25, at Delaware Stadium.
