Roosevelt Lip Sync Draws in Crowds

Students and teachers raise money for charity.

Fresh off of four days of state mandated testing for seventh and eighth graders, Roosevelt Intermediate School livened up Friday evening for some music and dancing.

The 17th annual Lip Sync Contest, sponsored by the school's student council, brought over 110 students and three teachers to the stage to lip sync and dance to their favorite songs. Theming to acts and incorporating costumes, students looked to bring the songs to light and beat each other for the grand prize. Themes ranged from Harry Potter to Candyland to Lady Gaga.

Three teachers took the stage, to the delight of the hundreds of students packing the school's auditorium. Jeff Knight, Demont Heard and Brice Freeman took to the stage in a traditonal act, bringing the audience to its feet, screaming and applauding as the teachers got into the spirit of the night.
