Introducing Christopher Academy’s New Extended Care for the School Year 2013/14

Christopher Academy, New Jersey’s oldest Montessori school is announcing its new extended care program for the school year 2013/14.

Christopher Academy was founded 50 years ago by a group of Westfield residents who wanted Montessori education for their children, and today the school comprises two campuses, located in Scotch Plains and Westfield.

The Montessori Method of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over a century ago, and it revolutionized the field of early childhood education by insisting that environments, in which children learn, reflect children’s natural development.

Research throughout the last century demonstrates the deep and lasting effects of her method, from increased academic achievement to distinction in children’s creativity, self-efficacy, and community contributions. Christopher Academy prides itself with providing children an education, which nurtures a love of learning in a home-like setting that models collaboration and instills a sense of responsibility for each other and to the community.

Christopher Academy offers flexible programs for children ages 2 ½ through 1st grade, and for the 2013/14 school year the school will be expanding the current extended care program at its Westfield campus. The extended care program is available from 7:50 AM until the regular start of the school program, and from the end of the regular school program, aftercare will be available until 6 PM.
