Hundreds Turn Out for Annual College Night at WHS

Westfield High School hosted their annual College Night on Thursday; an event which was attended by hundreds of students and about 180 different colleges, according to Head Counselor, Maureen Mazzarese.

Students had the ability to walk around the first floor to speak with various college representatives and gather information about their programs and courses. Millersville University representative Katy Ferrier said, “I’ve seen schools all the way from New York to Connecticut to North Carolina … so it’s really great and gives [kids] a lot of options.”

Junior Hannah Moloshok said that the event was a very helpful way to find out about college opportunities: “It’s cool because I get a lot of information about colleges I didn’t know I was interested in.” Her mother Judy added, “It’s a great place to get a lot of information without having to drive [far].”

Said Mazzarese: “I love that we host this … Many [of the colleges] come every year, and many are new to us. I’m pleased to be able to host this in light of all that’s going on, and we host it every year because it’s a great opportunity for students to see what’s out there and what’s going on. And it’s also a great opportunity for colleges to see our school and meet our kids and see how great WHS kids are … it’s like inviting someone into your home.”

College Night will be held again at WHS next year.
