Four BOE Candidates Will Run Uncontested in November Election

Mattessich, Ohlig, two newcomers will appear on ballot

Only four individuals submitted a nominating petition for the general election this fall in time to meet Tuesday’s deadline, meaning the individuals will run uncontested for the four Board seats available during the November vote.

Richard Mattessich, the current Board president, submitted a nomination petition in hopes of continuing to serve the Board, according to a press release distributed at Tuesday's meeting. Gretchan Ohlig, who was to fill a vacancy left by former president Julia Walker, also submitted a petition to remain on the Board. Both current members will fill three-year seats that begin in 2013.

Residents and J. Brendan Galligan also submitted nomination petitions. Biegler will occupy a three-year seat, while Galligan’s term will be for one year.

Petitioners were required to submit the necessary documents by 4 p.m. on June 5, as mandated by the New Jersey School Boards Association. Each nomination petition included signatures of at least 10 qualified voters living within the district.

One of the seats on the Board is available due to Jane Clancy's . David Finn also chose not to pursue another term.

The election will take place on November 6, with new board members taking their seats at the reorganization meeting on January 3, 2013.
