Union and Essex County Caregiver Conference - FREE

The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter, in conjunction with the Union County Department of Human Services Division on Aging, the Essex County Department of Citizen Services Division on Aging, and Union County College, is holding a half-day Union and Essex County Caregiver Conference on Saturday, November 12, 2011, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Union County College in Cranford.

 

This special half-day conference will offer an overview of Alzheimer’s disease, including the diagnostic process, treatment, medications and care techniques.  Presentations will also address the need for looking ahead and the importance of legal and financial planning.  An in-depth overview of community resources that support both the individual with the disease and their caregiver also will be shared.

Participants will hear the following presentations: Alzheimer’s Disease: What You Need to Know from Diagnosis to Treatment, Michelle Papka, Ph.D., Neuropsychologist, Atlantic Neuroscience Institute, Cognitive Research Center of New Jersey; Caregiver Resource Update, Donna Farrell, Outreach Coordinator, Union County Division on Aging, and Michelle Foster-Carter, MPH, Senior Community Outreach Specialist, Alzheimer’s Association; and Looking Ahead: Legal and Financial Considerations, Shana Siegel, CELA, Certified Elder Law Attorney by the ABA, accredited National Elder Law Foundation.
