Peaceful Children Peaceful Homes - Christopher Academy

Montessori classrooms, instituted by Dr. Maria Montessori over a century ago, are known for their peaceful environments, where children remain busy and attentive, happily spending time with friends while they learn and grow.

Christopher Academy The Montessori School, of Westfield and Scotch Plains, invites you to an evening with author Dr. Catherine McTamaney, to learn how to incorporate best practices to create an interactive and productive atmosphere.  Research throughout the last century demonstrates the deep and lasting positive effects of The Montessori method, from increased academic achievement to distinctions in children's creativity, self-efficacy, and community contributions.  This is a commendable message whose implementation has proven effective for children’s learning and development.

Wouldn’t it be nice to capture the same sense of openness and creativity in your own home?  In the series of discussions coming this February hosted by Christopher Academy, Dr. McTamaney will touch upon ways to implement Montessori methods in your everyday life.  Creating a peaceful and stimulating environment and encouraging interactive play in the home helps to reinforce the values touched upon at school.  Carrying these same practices throughout children’s learning base help to solidify their understanding of peacefulness and productivity in all areas of their lives.  Dr. Catherine McTamaney is the Curriculum Director for Christopher Academy, where she is also an alumna.  Anationally recognized author and parent educator, Dr. McTamaney is on faculty at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College, where she also serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Teaching and Learning.  Her award-winning collection of essays, "The Tao of Montessori" is a favorite of Montessori teacher education institutions around the world.
