College for Kids’ Open House at Union County College

CRANFORD - On May 14, 2011, the Union County College Division of Economic Development and Continuing Education is hosting an Open House for its summer program called College for Kids (CFK). The Open House begins at 10:00 a.m. on the College’s Cranford campus. Parents of kids from ages 5-12, or teens from ages 13-18, are welcome to this event to meet the staff and instructors, ask questions, and register for a wide range of courses. The courses include different types of activities such as sports, arts and crafts, reading, writing, sciences, and many others, which will provide joy and entertainment in a learning environment. The College For Kids Summer Program also includes before and after care sessions for families which need these services.

The CFK Program is made up of weekly courses, most of which are held in one and a half hour sessions. Tuition varies course by course. Register early, as classes fill quickly.

A highlight of the summer classes being offered include "Make your own app" and "Zumba for Kids". Classes begin in late June and go through August.

In the CFK program children and teens have the opportunity to explore different subjects through structured activities in a positive environment, which can lead to improving their social skills through working together with peers. The activities are based on real world experiences, which can improve their practical understanding of the work they are doing and can apply it to real life. The instructors work closely to the students, providing, positive feedback, and encouraging the students to have a good time and to keep learning.
