Adult Studies Series at First Congregational Church
First Congregational Church resumes its Adult Studies series with two new fall courses. Beginning Monday, October 3, “What’s the Least I Can Believe and Still Be a Christian?” will explore what really matters when it comes to beliefs about God, Jesus, the Bible and the church. The course is based on the book of the same name by Martin Thielen, Senior Minister of Brentwood, TN, United Methodist Church, and is offered on five consecutive Mondays through October 31 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Chapel Lounge.
On Tuesdays beginning October 4, “Here is the Church, Here are the People,” will look at how the framework of Paul’s early church still influences us almost 2,000 years later. The unit will begin with a history of the early church from 70 CE to the fall of the Roman Empire and continue with a review of the creeds, councils, battles, and major figures that have shaped it throughout the millennia. The five-week program continues through November 1 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the chapel lounge. All classes are free and open to the public.
