Dolan Reminds BOE of State Aid, Cuts History
Superintendent discusses past cuts during Tuesday presentation.
A repeat of the school system's history with state aid and budget cuts was detailed prior to recommendations on how to spend additional state aid from Gov. Chris Christie.
Schools Superintendent Margaret Dolan reminded members and the public Tuesday evening of Christie's the district's state aid by in March 2010, two weeks before the final approval of the district's budget proposal. The aid cut dropped the district's aid to just over $400,000.
The 2010 aid cut was the largest Westfield had seen in recent years. During former Gov. Jon Corzine's administration, the town had seen smaller state education aid cuts.

She noted that the district saw a in February, , when Christie decided to bump suburban district state aid earlier this month.
Dolan also reviewed the personnel and program cuts made by the board in past years. She also touched on other fiscal decisions made the board in recent years, which she said have brought financial efficiencies to the system.
