Learn More About Westfield Schools Bond Referendum

District to hold information session on Oct. 30 for bond referendum, which can result in a $2.7 million tax reduction.

The Westfield School District will host an information session to explain the district’s bond referendum on Oct. 30 from 7 to 8 p.m.

The bond referendum can reduce taxes by $2.7 million if approved on the Nov. 5 ballot.  The referendum gives Westfield residents the option to accept new state aid that became available for the district’s roof projects after they were voted on.

“This aid would directly result in a $2.7 million reduction in Westfield taxes over the life of the bond; however, it is not automatic and requires the approval of voters,” advised Dr. Dolan.  “If the replacement bond is not approved by Westfield voters, Westfield will lose the $2.7 million grant opportunity for the roofing work, and the previously passed referendum will remain in effect. The roofs will still be repaired -- but without state aid and at no reduction in taxes,” she explained.

If this bond is approved, it will supersede the one passed in Dec. 2012.
The meeting will be held at Roosevelt Intermediate School cafeteria meeting.

More information on the replacement bond is available at www.westfieldnjk12.org/novbond.
