Decorated Caps Show Graduates' Personal Style

WHS memories and desire to stand out in the crowd mark decorating decisions

Looking over the sea of blue and white graduation caps during last night's ceremony, the night was not uniform.

Some members of the Westfield High School Class of 2009 showed individuality last night with personalized decorations to their caps. The decorations varied from person to person. Many boys used white paint on their blue caps while girls preferred blue paint on their white caps, with nicknames, sports teams and memories scattered around.

"For one I go to Westfield and I play football and my number is 31," said graduate Richardo Johnson, who put a salute to his gridiron days on his cap.

Others chose to be more creative and create works of art. Some choose to use multi-colored paint and different designs. Other crammed in many memories as a part of their salute to Westfield High School.

Eriene Sidhom decorated her cap with multi-colored flowers as a part of her bid to remember the day.

"When I threw it up in the air, I wanted to be able to find it when it came down," she said. "I wanted it to be unique."
