BOE Rehires Longtime WHS Secretary

Bligh retained at part time level.

A long time secretary at Westfield High School will retain her job as part of efforts of the Board of Education to retain her in the face of budget cuts.

The BOE voted earlier this week to rehire Patricia Bligh, who was laid off as a result of budget cuts earlier this year. The cuts were made following Gov. Chris Christie's decision to slash the town's state education aid by $4.22 million.

BOE members said that WHS administrators looked into the budget for a way to retain the long time secretary. The final solution has her moving into a three-fifth part time employment slot. She will be paid at an annual rate of $24,012.
